In 'The Joffers' you will find our permanent collection of paintings from a.o. Spanish artist Sergio Cruz. This artists finds inspiration for his work in Velasques' 'Las Meninas'.
Our 'art on the wall' comes form 'European Makers Gallery' in Amsterdam and in addition to our own collection in the house, we also have kept some spaces 'vacant' in order to be able to show different paintings as part of a 'mini-exhibition' that will change from time to time.
The works shown within this concept may be purchased by our guests. Our hostess will be happy to give you more information.
Sophie Fattal (Fr)
Paints stories, fairy tales and sayings. With one eye she looks at the every day life around her as it portrays itself in the lounges, kitchens and pubs and with the other eye she turns towards the imagined life. Always with a sense of humour. She creates her own, and always colourful universe. Flat, spacious, from different perspectives. The portrayed have only one eye or three fingers. It does not matter; what matters is that they are alive. It is a lively and colourful universe that radiates happiness and contentment.
Salvador Collell
Spanish artist Salvador Collell (1949) paints figures, in pairs or threesomes. With a stroke of his brush he suggests the dreamlike reality of a figure, of people making music, having a drink together, playing a game or reading. His paintings are full of colour, sometimes bright, sometimes muted. The world he paints is almost medieval in atmosphere.
